The NY Daily News recently ran an article outlining some important facts about HIV.  One of the most important points was that:

“20 percent of those infected with HIV don’t know it. People can have an infection for years without developing symptoms.”

Doctor Robert Evans Recognized by PCOM

CWCOA Brings Electronic Medical Records Training To SEQ

Targets Unemployed Residents of Rochdale Village for Training

Community Wellness Centers of America, LLC (CWCOA) has partnered with OmniMD to integrate Electronic Medical Records (EMR) technology into local healthcare facilities in Southeast Queens. This initiative, part of a pilot healthcare program backed by Senator Shirley Huntley, will bring cost effective healthcare options to the residents of this area.

This initiative will provide not only needed medical services to the community, but also provide employment for hundreds of residents. According to the plan presented to Governor Cuomo by Senator Huntley, community residents will be trained in EMR technologies — providing opportunities for employment in the field of internet healthcare.

CWCOA Takes Proactive Measures in Healthcare for SEQ Residents

Over the past few decades, the Southeast Queens community has experienced a continuous deterioration of healthcare services, a shortage of physicians, and measurable healthcare quality deficits. This is the result of an uncoordinated delivery system, fragmented and lacking a focus in addressing disparities of care – affecting the healthy status of the community regarding chronic illnesses and diseases. CWCOA Secures Private Funding To Build and Develop Wellness Center

Southeast Queens First High Tech Clinic to Target Disparities

This week CEO and President of Community Wellness Centers of America, LLC (CWCOA), Dr. Robert Evans, has secured private investment financial funding for a pilot medical program to bring the first high tech clinic to Southeast Queens. Dr. Evans is presently in negotiation with several property owners including Rochdale Village to develop commercial real estate that will provide accessible medical services for this community.

Over the next few months, CWCOA will initiate plans to work in cooperation with the State of New York’s Public Health Office to secure sites to house future clinics. Working closely with local hospitals, medical schools, and specialized physician group practices, CWCOA will create a comprehensive group of medical personnel to help bring accessible medical services to low-income residents throughout the area.

CWCOA Forms Telemedicine Initiative

As stated by Dr. Robert Evans, telemedicine is one dimension of healthcare  enabling clinicians and the collective healthcare services within the community to improve the health and welfare of the community. Telemedicine Defined

Telemedicine is the use of medical information exchanged from one site to another via electronic communications to improve patients’ health status. Closely associated with telemedicine is the term “telehealth,” which is often used to encompass a broader definition of remote healthcare that does not always involve clinical services. Videoconferencing, transmission of still images, e-health including patient portals, remote monitoring of vital signs, continuing medical education and nursing call centers are all considered part of telemedicine and telehealth.

Senator Shirley L. Huntley Moves Toward a “Prescription for Change

As a result of the loss of critical healthcare services in Jamaica, Queens, NY Sate Senator Shirley L Huntley, in conjunction with Community Wellness Centers of America, is presently organizing measures to mitigate the lack of focused preventable healthcare services in Jamaica, along with the entire Borough of Queens. Senator Huntley’s initiative will build an integrated healthcare network along with attracting businesses as part of the bio science initiative of New York City for the creation of jobs and to particularly address the disparities of the current healthcare infrastructure.

This “Prescription for Change” will build the infrastructure working toward an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) to provide efficient, integrated quality care by sharing data and coordinating care across the provider network, in conjunction with bio science initiatives, which will reduce healthcare costs, improve the health and welfare of the population, and produce employment opportunities for our community.

Equinox Technologies Begins its Quest to Decrease Healthcare Disparities in South Jamaica, Queens

Healthcare organizations, hospitals and healthcare providers have a vested interest in creating an infrastructure that delivers integrated patient information. As presented by the US department of Health and Human Services, it is understood that the outcome of care is improved when caregivers have complete, usable data, and that additional benefits are immediately acquired.
