CWCOA Takes Proactive Measures in Healthcare for SEQ Residents

Over the past few decades, the Southeast Queens community has experienced a continuous deterioration of healthcare services, a shortage of physicians, and measurable healthcare quality deficits. This is the result of an uncoordinated delivery system, fragmented and lacking a focus in addressing disparities of care – affecting the healthy status of the community regarding chronic illnesses and diseases. These conclusions are evidenced by clinical data reported by the State of New York.

Community Wellness Centers of America; LLC (CWCOA), in conjunction with State Senator Shirley Huntley, are prepared to institute proactive measures to provide the necessary healthcare initiatives, services, and preventive programs in the community of Jamaica. This program will:

  1. Offer support to the community through a joint collaborative consortium of local, city, and state health officials, along with healthcare systems, medical and academic institutions, and the bioscience industry. This collaborative will clearly identify the disparities in healthcare in the community of Jamaica/Borough of Queens, and provide for the appropriate allocation of resources, services, and associated cost-savings with an integrated delivery healthcare model within the community.
  2. Offer an integrated collaboration of medical services that both support and understand both cultural and ethnic needs in providing excellent healthcare for minority populations, which can be used as a model program for the State of New York.
  3. Establish and support of local clinics that practice preventive medicine and advocate Electronic Medical Record technology for efficient record-keeping.
  4. Establish strategic partnerships with national and State programs whose main focus is closing the gap in healthcare disparities with a focus on Minority Mental Health Issues, Cardio Vascular Disease, HIV/AIDS, Diabetes, and Obesity.
  5. Ensure service capabilities and advancements in medicine are kept up-to-date in all wellness centers and meet all regulatory and licensure requirements.
  6. Integrate medical schools for continued improvements through data collection and research and development in the deliverance of high quality evidence based medical care.

In support of New York State’s Prevention Agenda and their ongoing mission to become the healthiest state, CWCOA and Senator Huntley share a common goal to improve the health status of the residents of Jamaica. Upon reviewing death rates in the state of New York, it has become apparent that African Americas are experiencing a higher mortality rate when compared with other races.

By providing access to quality healthcare and  early detection and preventative measures, Senator Huntley and CWCOA are working towards, “preventing illness in the first place, […] which makes much more sense than having to treat people when sick,” says Dr. Robert Evans, CEO of CWCOA.

“The identification and implementation of required services in Jamaica and the Borough of Queens will yield savings in health care and Medicaid budgets while producing a healthier, more informed population of residents.”
