Eugene Evans, long time Jamaica, Queens resident, has formulated an exploratory Committee to investigate the feasibility of participating in the upcoming election for City Council District 28. The council position is presently held by Ruben Wills.
Eugene Evans is the son of Rochdale Village resident, business owner, and Vice President of the Board of Directors Joe Evans and younger brother of CWCOA’s President Dr. Robert Evans. Eugene Evans has an eclectic background in business ownership, community activism, and professional sports.
” Formulation of this exploratory Committee is not to announce my candidacy but to explore whether or not the mission and responsibilities of the City Council seat has been carried out to it’s fullest potential, it’s impact on the community as a whole and whether the community calls for a change.”states, Eugene Evans.
The response and support by the community stake holders, and faith based organizations has been amazing. “This response is not a reflection on the job Mr. Wills is doing but mostly support from people who know the dedication and integrity of Eugene Evans,” says older brother Ray Evans.
Ray Evans himself is well known in the South Jamaica community and served several terms as a distinguished Board Member of Rochdale Village Inc and was the youngest in the history of the Village to hold that seat.
Stay tuned for what may be one of the most exciting political races in Jamaica, Queens History.
