Moves “Road Map To Recovery” to Governor’s Desk
Senator Shirley Huntley will present to Governor Andrew M. Cuomo a 465-page detailed report outlining her plan for a cost effective healthcare delivery model for Southeast Queens.
Senator Huntley in coordnation with Community Wellness Centers of America (CWCOA) CEO and president, Dr. Robert Evans, and COO, Richard Wildzunas,formulated this plan for a pilot initiative to begin the revitalization of required healthcare services – addressing disparities of services in the Jamaica Queens community.
This “Roadmap for Recovery” establishes a “Pilot Model Healthcare Delivery System” – a plan for providing integrated treatment and preventive care programs specifically for the African American population and other minority populations in Jamaica and the County of Queens.
In conjunction with this program, CWCOA will provide a full spectrum of integrated medical services and programs that are easily accessible to the community. Benefits provided will include eliminating health disparities; increasing the quality of health to residents; reducing healthcare costs, fraud, and abuse; and incorporating recommendations from the Governor’s Medicaid redesign team.
Participating in CWCOA’s pilot model healthcare program are several local hospitals, medical schools, academic institutions, and specialty physician group practices who are committed to delivering an integrated focused medical service to the community.
Dr. Evans says of the program, “We are confident that we will be able to achieve our goals and provide an integrated cost-efficient quality healthcare plan to the Jamaica Queens community. With this initiative, we will coordinate with both State and local government officials as well as community agencies to achieve our goal of significantly improving current health disparities throughout the community”.
