Community Wellness Centers of America Goes to Church

Phase 2 of the “Prescription of Change”

Dr. Robert Evans (CEO of Community Wellness Centers of America, LLC) has reached out to Reverend Dr. Edward Davis to formulate a strategic partnership to combat the healthcare crisis in Jamaica Queens, N.Y. The Reverend Dr. Davis, Senior Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Saint Albans, is highly respected as both a community activist and religious leader. His leadership and organizational skills are well documented and his vast knowledge of community-based services will be a catalyst to addressing the complicated healthcare disparities facing the residents of Jamaica, Queens.

“To truly combat the healthcare crisis in our community we need to prioritize the social and medical needs of the community. Taking care of a patient’s social needs is just as important as addressing their medical condition, who better than the church to address both? The critical need for volunteers (many with healthcare backgrounds), organization of resorces and guidance to the appropriate programs is already a priority in Dr. Davis’s church. With the proper funding we could wipe out many of the diseases that are killing minorities today,” states Dr. Evans.

The people of Southeast Queens have been facing an emergency healthcare crisis for the last three years with no remedy in site. With the closing of three major hospitals, over crowded emergency rooms, inadaquate healthcare delivery systems, a drastic decrease in medical providers and an increased number of medical fatalities Southeast Queens is in a true state of medical emergency.

Community Wellness Centers of America has embarked on phase 2 for the development of essential Medical services for Southeast Queens. As a community wide project, Community Wellness Centers of America continues its ongoing recruitment of legislators, community activist, physicians, hospitals and churches to work in conjunction with one another to solve the Healthcare crisis in Southeast Queens and Jamaica in general. Phase 3 of the initative will include the actual development of Wellness Centers and services in the community that will compliment the on going “Prescription of Change” project.
